ImageJERUSALEM, Sept. 2 (UPI) — A group of Jewish emigrants from Iran says members had to promise not to move to Israel before they could get permission to leave their country.

The Israeli Web site Ynetnews said the 40 Jews have been cooling their heels in Vienna, awaiting permission to enter the United States, and told Austrian authorities that moving to Israel was not a workable Plan B.

The emigrants, who have been stuck in Austria for several weeks, told officials they had to promise Iranian authorities they would not relocate to Israel in exchange for permission to leave Iran.
