Paul Oquist said Brockmann, who is on his first visit to the Islamic republic as president of the assembly, will hold meetings with top Iranian officials and attend an international economic summit in Tehran on Wednesday.

The summit is expected to be attended by officials from more than a dozen regional countries.

Brockmann is also in Iran as part of a tour to promote the holding of an international conference on the global finanical crisis from June 1 to 4, Oquist said.

The conference will be held in New York by the UN assembly.
