Tehran, May 11 The prayer leader of the central prison of Karaj, west of Tehran, was killed by an unidentified person, according to a state-run daily.
The hard-line Jomhouri Islami reported today that Hojatoleslam Tamjidi was killed by a blow to the head last night.
Tamjidi, a mid-ranking cleric, had officially been designated the prayer leader of Karaj Prison three weeks ago.
Authorities said that they were investigating the incident, and have sent the corpse for examination.
