The new Iranian president knows how to sound moderate – with the emphasis on sound

New York Daily News

The race is on to determine whether the new Iranian president has any interest in halting the country’s rush to obtain nuclear weapons.

Hassan Rouhani knows how to sound moderate. He said at his first news conference: “If we feel that the Americans are truly serious about resolving problems, Iran is serious in its will to resolve problems and dismiss worries.”

To which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded that Rouhani knows how to “exploit” hopes engendered by his election.

“Of course he wants more talks. He wants to talk and talk and talk,” Netanyahu said. “The centrifuges will keep on spinning.”

Like mad, and they keep adding to Iran’s stockpile of radioactive ore that could be weaponized with a few months labor. Plus, Iran has embarked on a second path that could lead to the bomb with the production of plutonium.

In June, International Atomic Energy Agency Director Yukiya Amano reported to his board on the results of “ten rounds of talks.”

“To be frank, for some time now we have been going around in circles,” Amano said.

Rouhani answers to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, just as did Ahmadinejad.

Talk? Yes. But only as long as there is fast, certain action by Iran. Meanwhile, drive for more sanctions and prepare for the worst.
