Baroness Ashton, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy
US Secretary of State John Kerry
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay
UN High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres
Hon. Nikolay Mladenov – UN SRSG – UNAMI – Iraq
Hon. Nuri Kamil al-Maliki, Prime Minister Republic of Iraq

An urgent action needed!

We remain deeply concerned about the horrific attack on the residents of Camp Ashraf on September 1st. The perpetrators of this cowardly attack need to be brought to justice.

The fate of the seven Camp Ashraf residents missing since the attack is also of great concern.  In a 19 September 2013 letter, Catherine Ashton, the European Commission’s High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security, alleged that there was reason to believe that these individuals were being detained near Baghdad and were at risk of being transferred to Iran.

The Iraqi government intends to extradite them to Iran, where they’ll be further tortured and executed. The United States and United Nations are directly responsible for anything that happens to them and must intervene immediately to release them.  The only way to release the hostages is to put pressure on Maliki’s government by United Nations, US and EU. Otherwise they will be extradited to the Iranian regime.

The government of Iraq must be held to account for the assassination the massacre of 52 unarmed innocent residents at Camp Ashraf. Furthermore it is incumbent on the international community to make all necessary representations to the government of Iraq to immediately release seven hostages kidnapped during the Sept. 1 attacks, six of whom are women. These hostages must be released without delay.

Only with the immediate deployment of U.N. peacekeepers and a U.S. monitoring team at Camp Liberty, can we be assured of the safety of the surviving camp residents.

We await His Excellency’s urgent action in this humanitarian case and to save the lives of 7 hostages of camp Ashraf. We believe silence at this point will only be depicted as a green light for further bloodshed against the defenseless residents of camp Liberty.

With respects, Roberto Malini, Dario Picciau, Glenys Robinson – EveryOne Group
