Tehran, Iran, Nov. 07 – Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki will travel to Moscow on Thursday to meet senior Russian officials for discussions on the international deadlock over the Islamic Republic’s uranium enrichment program.

Mottaki will meet his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov to discuss Tehran’s nuclear program, the state-run news agency ISNA reported on Tuesday.

The report said that the meeting would be held at Iran’s request.

Key members of the United Nations Security Council will meet later on Tuesday in New York in an effort to reach an agreement on a council resolution imposing possible sanctions on Tehran for failing to heed a demand earlier this year that it halt uranium enrichment.

Moscow is seeking major revisions to a European-proposed draft resolution imposing mild sanctions.
