Tehran, Iran, Mar. 23 – Iran launched week-long war-games on Thursday on its southern shores, state television reported.

The military exercises are being carried out in the Persian Gulf by Iran’s regular Navy, the report said, adding that they would continue until March 30.

Domestically-designed military equipment would be used throughout the manoeuvres, it added.

Iran has a dual military system with a regular Armed Forces as well as the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC). Both have their own Army, Navy, and Air Force and report directly to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
