Tehran, Iran, Apr. 25 – Iran has appointed a new ambassador to Congo, the official news agency IRNA reported on Wednesday.

Hamid Qomi was appointed to the position by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad upon the proposal of Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, the report said.

Qomi is a former head of the Arab Middle East and North African department of the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
