“Young doctors in our country live under the poverty line. The majority of young doctors, upon receiving their qualifications are sent into army conscription after which they attempt to practice in their own field of expertise. Their income is 1.5 million rials ($150) which is under the poverty line “, Dr. Iraj Khosronia said on Saturday to the state-run news agency.
Khosronia, who is also a Health Ministry official in Greater Tehran also said, “Some of these young doctors, even after the end of their conscription and private practice, choose not to continue work in their line of profession and find non-medical work”.
