Tehran, Iran, May 16 – An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale jolted parts of northern Iran on Thursday.
 
The quake occured at 09:50 local time (05:20 GMT), the official news agency IRNA reported.
 
The tremor hit the city of Gonbad-e Kavous which has a population of 290,000.
 
There were no immediate reports of any casualties or damage to property.
