The Cabinet expressed is dismay over these “negative” remarks, which it said “hinder efforts exerted by the Gulf Cooperation Council and its sincere desire to build a relationship of friendship and cooperation with Iran.” It hoped that Iranian officials would show keenness for maintaining good relations and mutual respect for its neighbors, and to refrain from interfering in the internal affairs of other countries so as to strengthen ties in the interest of the people of the region.

Meanwhile, Bahrain’s Shura Council, the upper house of parliament, condemned Monday as “irresponsible” Iranian officials’ recent claims that Bahrain was an integral part of the Islamic Republic.
