Tehran, Iran, Sep. 05 – Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez arrived in Tehran on Saturday morning on the fourth leg of a six nation tour.

Having begun his tour by visiting Libya, Algeria and Syria, Chavez arrived in Tehran on Saturday morning where he was met by Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki and Industries and Mining Minister Ali Akbar Mehrabian, the state-run Fars news agency reported.

In reference to Chavez’s visit to Iran, hard-line Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stated: "Expansion of Tehran-Caracas relations is necessary given their common interests, friends and foes".

According to Fars this is the seventh time the Venezuelan President has visited Tehran and he is due to complete his six nation tour by visiting Belarus and Russia.
