Hundreds of protesters gathered outside the US embassy in London calling for international action to protect Iranian refugees in Iraq.

The demonstration marked day 40 of a hunger strike by 12 people whose relatives are living in the Ashraf refugee camp in the war-torn country.

Saeed Abed, UK spokesman for the National Council of Resistance of Iran, said guards at the camp had repeatedly made threats and that 36 of the refugees are being held prisoner by Iraq.
