TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran’s powerful Revolutionary Guard says one of its training helicopters has crashed near Tehran, killing four people.

The Guard’s website says the helicopter crashed on Wednesday morning near Semnan, about 125 miles (200 kilometres) east of the country’s capital, Tehran.

The report did not elaborate on the details of the crash or the casualties.

Iran has a history of frequent air accidents — including planes and helicopters — blamed on its aging aircraft and poor maintenance.
