Tehran, Jun. 16 – Students at the University of Tehran clashed with security forces on Tuesday, according to students and eye-witnesses, who reported at least 17 arrests.

Students chanted “death” to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei after 7pm in Amir-Abad Street close to the university dormitory which was the scene of an attack by pro-government militia a year ago. At least eight students were injured in clashes with plainclothes and Ministry of Intelligence agents, students said. Some passers-by came to the students’ aid.

Clashes continued until 11pm outside the university dormitory and police officers prevented crowds from forming.
