THE HAGUE, January 29, 2011 (AFP) – The Netherlands on Saturday summoned Iran’s ambassador after an Iranian-Dutch woman, initially arrested for anti-government protests, was hanged for drug smuggling, an official said.
“The meeting with the ambassador will take place at 1:45 pm” (1245 GMT), foreign ministry spokesman Bengt van Loosdrecht told AFP.
The ministry had not yet received confirmation of the execution in Iran of Zahra Bahrami, 46. “The minister has summoned Iran’s ambassador in order to elucidate this piece of information,” he added.
