Attacks on Iranian security forces kill two: report

AFP: Two members of Iranian security forces were killed during separate “armed actions” in the city of Sanandaj, capital of Iranian Kurdistan on the border with Iraq, Mehr news agency reported Friday.

TEHRAN, March 25, 2011 (AFP) – Two members of Iranian security forces were killed during separate “armed actions” in the city of Sanandaj, capital of Iranian Kurdistan on the border with Iraq, Mehr news agency reported Friday.

It said that Morteza Vaziri Afshar was killed in Sanandaj Thursday night during an armed attack which also left two people wounded.

Another member of the Iranian security forces was killed two hours later in a second assault, Mehr news agency reported, adding that a search was launched to find the perpetrators.

Regions of western Iran, which has a large Kurdish minority, are often the sites of clashes between Iranian forces and Kurdish armed rebel movements.
