The Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour said Iran’s armed forces were now equipped with the best anti-armour weapons and ammunition to confront all heavy armoured vehicles and tanks.
The state-run news agency FARS quoted Pakpour as saying: “Today we have access to the munitions needed for confronting all types of armoured vehicles in the region”.
“There is no armoured vehicle that we don’t have (anti-armour) munitions for”, he said.
Earlier this month Iran’s Defence Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said Iran’s armed forces had been equipped with highly advanced anti-armour and anti-chopper weapons.
Vahidi stated: “These weapons identify the weak points of the enemy tanks and hit them from above”.
Also on Saturday, Iran started mass-production of anti-armour ammunition in an official ceremony attended by Vahidi.
