Tehran, Iran, Dec. 29 – Iran’s hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad appointed two new governors for the western provinces of Kurdistan and Hamedan.

Ahmadinejad appointed Esmaeil Najjar as the province governor or Kurdistan while Behrouz Moradi was named as provincial governor of Hamedan during a cabinet meeting on Thursday.

Separately, the new governor of the central city of Isfahan was sworn in during a ceremony on Thursday.

Mostafa Hajiyan was given the new post in front of officials from Isfahan city and province.

Since taking office, the Revolutionary Guards commander-turned-President has carried out a purge of senior government and administrative officials and has appointed at least seven fellow Revolutionary Guardsmen as provincial governors in Ardebil, Bushehr, East Azerbaijan, Kermanshah, Khuzistan, Mazandaran, and Qazvin.

At least 11 ministers in Ahmadinejad’s cabinet are former senior officers of the Revolutionary Guards and its affiliated agencies, the para-military Bassij and the Construction Jihad.
