Tehran, Iran, Jun 02 – Britain and France have approved Iran’s prospective ambassadors, a government-run Persian-language website reported on Friday.

Rasoul Movahedian-Attar and Ali Ahani will soon take over as Iran’s top envoys to Britain and France respectively.

Ahani had previously been Iran’s ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, France, and the European Union.

In mid-February, Iran Focus reported that Britain had “unofficially” accepted Movahedian-Attar to take up the post in London which has been vacant since late 2005 when hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad recalled 40 of the country’s ambassadors and envoys as part of a purge of the Islamic Republic’s diplomats who did not belong to the ultra-Islamist faction.

Movahedian-Attar was previously Tehran’s top envoy to the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Portugal.
