London, Nov. 02 – Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh will travel to Iran later this month to hold talks with senior Iranian officials.

Haniyeh, a senior Hamas leader, will travel to Iran some time in the next two weeks, according to an announcement by his office.

Palestinian officials are currently making the necessary arrangements for the visit.

The trip will be part of the Palestinian leader’s first-ever tour of the Gulf States, which includes stops in Syria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar, and Lebanon.

The Hamas-led Palestinian government has been facing serious difficulties since the elections, in part due to sanctions imposed on it by the West.
