Tehran, Iran, Feb. 16 – A senior Iranian cleric rejected on Friday claims by the United States that the elite Qods Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) was sending arms into Iraq responsible for the deaths of coalition troops.

“The claim by the U.S. that Iran is sending arms into Iraq and American soldiers are being killed by Iranian weapons is a false accusation”, Ayatollah Mohammad Emami-Kashani told Friday prayers worshippers in Tehran. His remarks were aired on state television.

He accused Washington of attempting to sow discord among Shiite and Sunni Muslims in Iraq.

Emami-Kashani said that the U.S. had a “dream” of “dominating the world”. He added, however, “The U.S. has learnt that it can not have dominion over the world; since, the world dominion will end up in the hands of the Imam Mahdi”.
