Tehran, Iran, Apr. 02 A senior Iranian Majlis (Parliament) official said on Monday that Iran was not obligated to adhere to United Nations Security Council Resolution 1747 which ordered it last month to freeze its uranium enrichment activities.
This Resolution is completely political. Such resolutions will diminish the standing of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and it will be transformed into a tool in the hands of the powers such as the United States and Britain, said Hamid-Reza Haji Babai, a member of the Majlis leadership delegation. His remarks were reported by the official news agency IRNA.
He said that the Security Council had made a mistake in adopting Resolution 1747.
Iran is not obligated to respect Resolution 1747, he added.
