Tehran, Iran, Apr. 24 – Canada has appointed a new ambassador to Iran, the Foreign Ministry announced in a statement.

Foreign Minister Peter MacKay appointed John Mundy as Canada’s new envoy to the Islamic Republic.

Mundy has previously served in Seoul, Manila, Islamabad, Brussels and most recently in Sydney, Australia, where he was Consul General from 1999 to 2003.

He succeeds Gordon Venner.
