Tehran, Iran, Apr. 30 – The head of Iran’s state broadcasting corporation Ezzatollah Zarqami led a delegation to Syria on Monday, state media reported. He will meet and hold talks with several senior Syrian officials on regional issues.

Zarqami, who heads the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), arrived in Damascus to take part in the third annual International Meeting of the Muslim Media in Support of Palestinians.

State television quoted Zarqami as telling the meeting that Western media had “launched a widespread attack on the Islamic world”.

Until 2004, IRIB was headed for ten years by Ali Larijani who now heads the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC).
