Tehran, Iran, Jun. 24 – Iran announced on Sunday that it had appointed a new permanent representative to the United Nations.

Mohammad Khaza’i, a former Deputy Economic Minister, will take over from incumbent envoy Mohammad-Javad Zarif, said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini.

Zarif had held the position for the past five years.
