Tehran, Iran, Aug. 14 – Hard-line Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has arrived in Afghanistan for a state visit, Iranian state media reported on Tuesday.

Ahmadinejad arrived in the Afghan capital Kabul earlier in the day, the official news agency IRNA said.

This is Ahmadinejad’s first trip to the neighbouring state since becoming president.

He will meet and hold talks with senior Afghan officials including President Hamid Karzai during the one-day trip.

The United States accuses Iran of providing arms to the Taliban militia in Afghanistan.
