Tehran, Iran, Mar. 06 – Residents of Tehran are beginning to panic after SMS text messages started to appear in mobile phones claiming that there is a possibility of an impending powerful quake in the Iranian capital in the coming days.

Locals have begun to alert family and friends to prepare for danger, after the initial SMS messages stated that a quake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale is expected to strike Tehran on Friday.

The SMS warning calls say that the information is coming from a website operating from the United States.

The word is that the American website which has forecasted the impending quake is the same one that predicted the massive earthquake that brought the ancient Iranian city of Bam to rubbles prior to it occurring in December 2003.
