Tehran, Iran, Dec. 25 – Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki has postponed his trip to Iran.

Maliki was scheduled to fly on Wednesday to Tehran from Ankara, where he held talks with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

A Qatari news agency quoted an unnamed “informed source” as saying that the visit was put off until Saturday because U.S. President-elect Barack Obama was planning on travelling to Baghdad over the holiday period.

Al-Maliki has visited Iran three times since taking office in 2006.
