Tehran, Iran, Jun. 24 – A demonstration erupted in Tehran’s Melat Park last night against the second round of the presidential elections.

The protest began at about 9:30 p.m. by youths and women who started chanting slogans calling the election “a sham” and inviting people to participate in a nationwide boycott.

It rapidly grew as hundreds of local residents joined the demonstrators.

State Security Forces quickly surrounded the park and at least five youths and one woman were seen being arrested.

An SSF minibus was seen transporting those arrested to an unknown location as other protesters tried to intervene. Demonstrators throw stones at the minibus, shattering one of the windows.

Protests continued through the night in the area around the park.
