Tehran, Iran, Aug. 30 – An intelligence agent from Iran’s security apparatus was gunned down and left seriously wounded in the Iranian capital late Sunday night, a state-run daily reported.

The agent was attacked by unidentified assailants at 22:30 while driving his car in the Yaft-Abad district of Tehran, according to the daily Sharq.

The attackers reportedly threw the agent out of his vehicle which they used to flee the scene.

Agents investigating the attempted murder reportedly suspect that the attack was intentional and the theft of the vehicle was just to throw the police off-track.

The attack came hours after a judge was shot and blinded in the eye outside his home in Tehran.
