Speaking to reporters after a meeting with representatives from countries in the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), Larijani said that the Islamic Republic sought to enrich uranium on its own soil.
Asked what he thought about the prospect of enriching uranium on foreign soil, the secretary-general of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) said, Enrichment is of benefit to those nations, but for Iran it is important to have enrichment on its own soil.
He said that British, French, and German Foreign Ministers had not yet replied to a letter he had sent them in which Tehran had insisted that it would not abandon the nuclear fuel cycle, a precursor to the development of an atomic bomb.
