The protest broke out at the end of the game between the teams Esteghlal and Persepolis outside Tehrans Azadi Stadium.
Shattered glass from bus windows and occasional debris lined the streets surrounding the stadium as young men hurled sticks and stones at the security forces, the report said.
State Security Forces were dispatched to several key locations in the vicinity of the stadium where they arrested a number of protestors, the report added.
Azadi and Enghelab streets were the scene of the main clashes.
