Tehran, Iran, Apr. 12 – Iran’s Defence Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar warned the West not to stand up to the Islamic Republic over its nuclear program, the state-run news agency Fars reported on Wednesday.

“[The West”> must accept the reality that the Iranian nation will continue on the path it has begun and believes this to be its inalienable right as it has declared repeatedly”, Mohammad-Najjar told reporters in eastern Iran on Tuesday.

“The president announced this great step with decisiveness and power. If the enemies are wise they will never stand in the way of the Iranian nation”, the Revolutionary Guards Brigadier General said.

“We have obtained the technology. Whatever reaction the enemies show is not very important for our nation”, he added.

On Tuesday, Ahmadinejad declared that Iran had joined the Nuclear Club.

“I officially announce that Iran has joined the world’s nuclear countries”, Ahmadinejad said in a speech that was broadcast on state television.

The United Nations Security Council adopted a “Presidential Statement” unanimously on March 29 giving Iran 30 days to suspend all of its uranium enrichment activities and resume its cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Separately, Iran’s top military commander said on Wednesday that the West was powerless to stop Tehran’s nuclear activities.

Iran has the ability to create hundreds of Uranium Conversion Facilities and thousands of centrifuges, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Major General Hassan Firouzabadi, said. His comments were carried by the state-run news agency ISNA.
