Gholam-Reza Aghazadeh, who heads Iran’s Atomic Energy Organisation (IAEO), will lead a high-ranking delegation which will meet Olli Heinonen, deputy director-general of the IAEA for nuclear safeguards, the official news agency reported.
Last week, Heinonen cancelled his planned trip to Tehran after Iranian officials announced that they would not forgo their “right” to uranium enrichment.
In March, the United Nations Security Council adopted a Presidential Statement unanimously giving Iran until April 28 to suspend all of its uranium enrichment activities and resume its cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog.
IAEA Director-General Mohamed ElBaradei will release a report in the coming days on whether Iran had complied with the Security Council’s demands.
The United States is pressing for sanctions to be imposed on Tehran for its non-compliance.
