London, May 05 – A prominent Iraqi Sunni politician accused Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) of involvement in many assassinations and terrorist attacks in Iraq.

Sheikh Hareth al-Zari, secretary general of the Association of Muslim Scholars, said that thousands of Iraqis had been “deliberately and blindly” assassinated.

His comments were reported in the weekly al-Ahali.

Sunni groups have accused Tehran of trying to flare sectarian strife between Iraqi Shiites and Sunnis.
