Tehran, Iran, Jun. 19 – An Iraqi court has sentenced 46 Iranians who illegally entered Iraq to six months prison time, the government-run news agency Fars reported on Monday.

The court in the southern Iraqi city of al-Kut convicted the 46 individuals of “illegal entry”.

In March, United States Secretary of Defence Donald Rumsfeld accused Tehran of sending elite members of its Revolutionary Guards into Iraq to cause harm to the future of that country.

Sunni groups have accused Tehran of trying to flare sectarian strife between Iraqi Shiites and Sunnis.
