Tehran, Iran, Sep. 17 – Iran and Cuba signed five memoranda of understanding in Havana on Saturday, official media reported on Sunday.

The bilateral cooperation agreements were signed after a meting by hard-line Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and acting Cuban President Raul Castro.

Late Saturday, Ahmadinejad visited the residence of ailing Cuban leader Fidel Castro where the pair held a meeting.

During the meting, Ahmadinejad called for expansion of bilateral ties between Tehran and Havana.

He added that the United States was on the verge of collapse as the symbol of liberalism.
