London, Jan. 31 – Russia said on Tuesday that it had not made Iran a new offer in return for it to suspend its uranium enrichment activities.

The secretary general of Russia’s Security Council Igor Ivanov said Moscow was adhering to the common position of the six major world powers – Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia, and the United States. His remarks were reported by the Russian news agency Itar-Tass.

“Russia and Tehran are actively discussing bilateral relations and international issues. The Iranian nuclear program is one of the important items. UN Security Council resolution 1737 did not stop the dialog. It was bound to promote negotiations between Iran and the sextet. The proposals have been made, and no one has repealed them”, Ivanov said.

The Security Council voted unanimously in December to impose mild sanctions on Tehran for its failure to halt its sensitive nuclear work.

Russia will supply fuel to the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran at an appropriate time, Ivanov said.
