The new sanctions in particular target Irans Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) and the state-owned Bank Sepah.
On December 23, the Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 1737, slapping milder sanctions on Tehran. It ordered Iran to suspend all uranium enrichment-related activities.
