London, Mar. 24 – The United Nations Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution on Saturday imposing further sanctions on Iran over its failure to suspend uranium enrichment activities as the Council and the UN nuclear watchdog had demanded.

The new sanctions in particular target Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) and the state-owned Bank Sepah.

On December 23, the Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 1737, slapping milder sanctions on Tehran. It ordered Iran to suspend all uranium enrichment-related activities.
