PARIS (AP) – French President Nicolas Sarkozy urged the International Atomic Energy Agency on Thursday to stay firm in its investigations into Iran’s nuclear program.

Sarkozy met with IAEA director Mohammed ElBaradei in Paris and “encouraged the agency to pursue its investigative work in Iran for the long term and with determination,” Sarkozy’s office said in a statement.

Sarkozy “reiterated the concerns and the demands of the international community regarding Iran’s nuclear and ballistic activities,” it said.

ElBaradei is to report on the progress of his probe next month to the 35-nation IAEA board.
