Tehran, Iran – Iran warned Wednesday it would pull out of European talks on its nuclear program if they appear to be a “waste” of time.

Hassan Rohani, head of Iran’s Higher National Security Council, was quoted by the Iranian News Agency, IRNA, saying: “We will stop all discussions” with Germany, France and Britain “in case they did not show credibility.”

He said the talks that began March 23 were “not designed to discuss halting uranium enrichment, but exploring ways how Iran could enrich uranium without causing concern for the international community.

“If we feel at any time that the negotiations are futile and that the Europeans want to waste time, we will just interrupt them,” he added.

He said there is a time limit for negotiations and they should be completed “within months and not years.”

“We will continue the talks if we feel there is progress within the next few months, otherwise they will be interrupted,” he said.
