AFP: French President Nicolas Sarkozy said Tuesday he wanted the United Nations to impose fresh sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program no later than May. Washington (AFP) – French President Nicolas Sarkozy said Tuesday he wanted the United Nations to impose fresh sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program no later than May.

The United Nations should agree on sanctions "in April or May, no later," Sarkozy told a news conference.

The French leader was in Washington for a 47-nation summit on nuclear security, where Iran's nuclear program was a top item of discussion on the sidelines.
