The Secretary-General of Irans Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani sent a letter to the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Mohamed ElBaradei informing him that the Islamic Republic will begin industrial-scale uranium enrichment and stop implementing the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treatys Additional Protocol, which allows for snap inspections of declared nuclear sites by IAEA officials, if the Security Council becomes involved in the affair.
The announcement comes as the 35 nations of the IAEAs board of governors meet at a two-day emergency session in Vienna to discuss reporting Iran to the top international security body.
Larijanis letter said Iran would not be intimidated by such pressures.
