Tehran, Iran, Feb. 12 – Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki announced that the Islamic Republic had issued the order for resumption of uranium enrichment at Natanz, central Iran, a state-run news agency reported on Sunday.

“The directive has been issued for this work and the secretariat of the board of governors [of the International Atomic Energy Agency”> and the IAEA itself have been informed. Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities are continuing in the framework of the [nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty”>”, Mottaki told the ISNA news agency.

“In accordance with the law passed in Majlis, we have no commitment to the Additional Protocol and we will continue our peaceful nuclear activities based on our membership in the NPT”, Mottaki added.

The Additional Protocol allows IAEA inspectors to carry out snap inspections of declared nuclear sites. Iran is suspected by the West of developing nuclear weapons under the pretext of a nuclear energy program.
