The presidential statement said the Security Council noted with serious concern Irans decision to resume enrichment-related activities, including research and development, and to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency under the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treatys Additional Protocol.
The Security Council also notes with serious concern that the Director Generals report of 27 February 2006 (GOV/2006/15) lists a number of outstanding issues and concerns, including topics which could have a military nuclear dimension, and that the IAEA is unable to conclude that there are no undeclared nuclear materials or activities in Iran, the statement, adopted unanimously by the 15-nation council, said.
The council called on Iran to take the steps required by the IAEA Board of Governors, and said that it was particularly important for Tehran to re-establish full and sustained suspension of all enrichment-related and reprocessing activities, including research and development, to be verified by the IAEA.
It asked IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei to present a report to both the IAEA Board of Governors and the Security Council in 30 days on whether Iran had complied with the demands of the UN nuclear watchdog.
