The report quoted Larijanis office as saying that the pair held a telephone conversation on Wednesday during which they agreed to meet each other next week to discuss a solution to the international standoff over Tehrans nuclear activities.
The meeting will be held in a European capital, the report said.
Larijani, who is secretary-general of Irans Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), is currently on a one-day visit of Damascus where he has met and held talks with Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad.
Regional allies Iran and Syria are both accused by the United States of being state sponsors of terrorism.
