Iranian official hints no inspections at suspect nuclear site anytime soon
AFP: A senior Iranian negotiator hinted Wednesday that UN nuclear inspectors would not be visiting the Parchin military
site in Iran, where the United States says weapons work is going on, anytime soon. Cyrus Nasseri told AFP that any such inspections of the Parchin and Lavizan military sites would be “transparency” visits, beyond the inspections that are required by the UN watchdog International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Irans ex-Revolutionary Guards chief abandons race
Iran Focus: Tehran, Jun. 15 A day after Iran Focus predicted that Mohsen Rezai, one of the five ex-Revolutionary Guards commanders in the eight-man race for Irans next president, would withdraw in favour of strongman Hashemi Rafsanjani, he bowed out on Wednesday evening. In a statement explaining his decision to withdraw, Rezai said today that he was heeding the opinion of pre-eminent religious leaders to avoid splitting the votes.
