Three Iran police die in ethnic clashes in W.Iran

Reuters: Three Iranian policemen have died fighting Kurdish insurgents, an official said on Wednesday, as security forces crack down on unrest along the Islamic Republic’s ethnically volatile western borders. Interior Ministry spokesman Jahanbakhsh Khanjani said the men were killed fighting Pezhak forces, an Iranian wing of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) whose separatist campaign is flaring up in southeastern Turkey after a relative lull.

In a move to limit the damage caused by the release of the report, judiciary spokesman, Jamal Karimi-Rad, told reporters that the report by the judiciary review committee in Tehran “was merely the minutes of the [committee’s”> meeting”, adding that the Tehran Justice Department had

The man only identified as Farshid F. was convicted of murdering five drivers between the years 1998 to 2000 in an attempt to steal their belongings.
