of whom turned up with photos of their relatives presently in prison in the notorious Evin Prison in Tehran and Gohar-Dasht Prison in Karaj.

Iraq rebuffs Iranian military training aid

United Press International: Iraqi Defense Minister Sadoun Dulaimi has denied part of an agreement with Iran struck last week includes assistance in training the country’s new military.
At a Baghdad news conference, Dulaimi denied Iranian Defense Minister Adm. Ali Shamkhani’s claim Iran would provide training as part of a five-point memorandum of understanding.

Iran to resume sensitive nuclear work very soon: negotiators

AFP: Iran will soon resume uranium enrichment and will
reject any proposal from the European Union that does not recognise the Islamic republic’s right to carry out this ultra-sensitive nuclear activity, top negotiators warned Tuesday. “I think the end of the suspension is very close, and the Europeans should keep to their commitments,” Hossein Mousavian told the hardline Kayhan newspaper.

Reuters: Iran warned the European Union on Tuesday it planned to resume uranium enrichment soon and would reject any proposal by the EU that sought to prevent it from carrying out such sensitive nuclear work. The warning, delivered by several of Iran’s nuclear negotiating team, came ahead of crucial talks between Tehran and the EU expected to take place next month.

A group of friends were walking at an avenue in Independece Square in Mahabad at 22:30, when they were approached and attacked by an SSF convoy, plain-clothed Islamic vigilantes, and a number of agents of Iran’s dreaded Ministry of Intelligence and Security (VEVAK), according to several eye-witnesses.

Iran Focus: Tehran, Iran, Jul. 12 – More than 100 university lecturers yesterday took part in a gathering in Ahwaz Chamran University, southwest Iran, to protest the destruction of parts of the campus by the authorities.
The mayor’s office had ordered parts of the university campus, including the eastern wall, to be stripped down.

the town of Chabahar (southeast Iran) was gunned down by unknown assailants in a nearby village yesterday evening, according to the government-run website Baztab. Mohammad-Reza Sarhadi, the director of government health insurance in Chabahar, was the target of automatic-gun fire from more than one assailant.
